Development - Leaving a Legacy

As you can imagine, in a school dating back to 1913 and
with over 1,200 students, the demands on the existing fabric of the
building are considerable. We have long-term development plans for the
school to address immediate needs of the students with a space for performing
arts and with the remodelling of the 'old gymnasium' into a sixth form
study area.
We are determined to offer our students even better facilities to match
the excellent education which we have come to expect. However, public
funds are limited. Schools are compelled to rely upon peoples’
generosity and goodwill to ensure their future.
To ensure our future, we are launching a Legacy
Campaign which will help
future generations of students at BRGS. Obviously, we realise that there
are many considerations when drawing up a Will, with family usually
being of primary importance. However, we have been encouraged to launch
this Campaign in response to the high level of interest expressed from
many friends of the school. Interestingly, research shows that people
who make a Will live longer, and those who leave a gift to charity live
even longer!*
The brochure which you can download
from this page provides further details.
The John Kershaw Society
Named after our original benefactor tracing our origins to Newchurch
Grammar School in 1702, the John Kershaw Society has been established
to acknowledge the generosity of all who include a gift to BRGS in their
Will. Members will be invited to an annual lunch to keep in touch with
the development of the school and will be acknowledged in our Book of
Supporters, unless you wish to keep your support anonymous.
If you have already made a Will but would like to make an additional
bequest to BRGS you can do so means of writing a Codicil. A Codicil
form can be downloaded
from this page and when completed, will need to be kept with, but not
attached to, your current Will. A copy of your Will and Codicil should
be given to your Executor.
We do hope that you will feel able to help BRGS and future generations
of students in this way.
