YEAR
8 COURSE OUTLINE
The Year 8 French course is based on Encore Tricolore 1 (pub.
Nelson) and covers a variety of topics including greetings,
home
and family, animals, weather, leisure activities, meals, telling
the time, clothes and shopping.
The grammatical concepts covered are:
 genders
articles
adjectives
expressions
of quantity
possessives
and demonstratives
prepositions
negatives
present
tense -er and -re verbs
some
irregular verbs
question
forms.
HOMEWORK
is set twice a week. Homeworks may consist of learning tasks or
written exercises.
TESTING
learning homeworks are always thoroughly tested, and it is expected
that pupils will devote the correct amount of time to such tasks.
HOW PARENTS CAN HELP
Please check entries in your child's homework diary and check
the standard and presentation of written work (neat, no biro).
Pupils always benefit from parental involvement: please encourage
your child to spend time on learning homeworks and help him/her
by testing!
We would also recommend that you purchase a Collins "Easy
Learning" French Dictionary.
