The National
Curriculum now requires that all students follow a Science course
which embodies Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students
follow AQA GCSE Science, which includes three modular examinations
and a practical component, carried out in lesson times.
SATs results will be used along with internal assessments for set allocations.
Five forms will be divided into six sets of which two will move at a more rapid
pace and the other four more steadily. Each set is taught by a specialist science
teacher.
By
adopting a uniform and consistent approach to the National Curriculum it is envisaged
that students from any set will have the opportunity to enter the Sixth Form
to study Applied Science A-level with every confidence of success not least because
of the commitment to good teaching so regularly demonstrated by the staff of
the
Science Department.
