27th
January 2010 – Holocaust Memorial Day – marks
the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
On this day, the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is challenging
everyone across the UK to become part of a Legacy of Hope.
They have commissioned an artist to work with six schools
in the UK to produce pieces of art with a positive message
for HMD.

BRGS was invited
to participate because of the innovative cross curricular
approach used by staff when teaching the
Holocaust.
9B worked
with performance artist Phillip Davenport to
produce images which will be distributed to schools nationally
for the 2010 commemorations.
Both Phillip and
HMD education manager Catherine Bowens were
delighted with the work produced by Year 9 and
remarked on the wonderful reception they had been
given at BRGS.
