University you are at, why you chose this university,
and give one interesting fact about your university:
Keele University, Staffordshire.
I loved the campus, it reminded me of home (with lots of greenery and hills etc) :)

One of the law lecturers is the first Chairman of the Sentencing Advisory Panel, a body established under statute to advise and assist the Court of Appeal in the issuing of sentencing guidelines for the criminal courts. He is COOL!
Best things about your university city: Worst things about your university city:
Its a very small community, so you always recognise somebody on campus! You're on a hill in the middle of nowhere!

Social scene/nightlife in your
university city?:

The union, cheap booze, different rooms with different music (Retro Rooms - cheesy 60s/70s/80s/90s pop! Outlaw - as it was in 1st year - rock!!! etc) There is Newcastle Under Lyme nearby regular bus service and taxis arent too expensive. Hanley has the proper nightclub, but its EXPENSIVE for taxis!
How much on average per week do a) Halls of Residence, b) Renting a house,
cost in your university town/city?
What is the accommodation like in your university town/city?
Halls of residence was £60 p/w
House (Stoke) - £20 p/w (not pleasant!)
Halls flat - I dread to think...
The rooms have just what you need in, good views of the huge squirrel population!
How much on average do you spend on food shopping per week?
In my third and final year it was bare minimal, I lived off cheese on toast in the final semester when I ran out of time and money!!! I'd say about £20 p/w to feed me and 2/3 others (on a rota basis).
Mum's frozen meals were a a life saver!!!!
What is the course you are studying? - Was it your original choice when applying for university?
Law and Criminology - Same choice when applying.
How many years does your course last?
3 years.
What you enjoy most about your course/ what impresses you about it?:
Law is a VAST subject!!!!! That impressed me, you have to have a brain like a sponge!
But you do get to find out some weird laws and what strange things people do!
What you enjoy least about your course, and what could be improved :
The massive amount of reading involved!
How do you rate the teaching standards on your course, and do
your tutors/lecturers/the university give you the right support for your studies?:
Excellent, the help is always there if you want it!
Why did you choose the particular course you are studying?
I orginally wanted to be a solicitor, I changed my mind mid-way through my course. I still havent decided, but law is a good base for most careers.
Best thing about being at university: Worst thing about being at university:
Friends, fun, freedom!!!!! Lack of money and TV!!
What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I graduated in 2005, and I am currently working as a health and safety adminstrator locally, in Rossendale.

If you were to recommend going to university, what would you say?
Be prepared to work hard!! Having some money saved up is a good idea!
Do you get homesick? If so, how do you deal with it?
I did get quite homesick at times, but remember most people are homesick, its a huge step moving away from home and having to look after yourself!
Remember you're all in the same boat and someone will understand!
Do you think you made the right choice? Or looking back, would you have gone to a different university/started a different course?
No regrets at all! Best time of my life so far!
What have you achieved whilst being at university?
Confidence and a degree that I gained all by myself!
