University you are at, why you chose this university,
and give one interesting fact about your university:
I am currently at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston campus. I chose this university because it offered the best course for me. the university is huge yet you still feel part of something.
Best things about your university city: Worst things about your university city:
The people are all ace, there is a massive range of cultures within the university, there are loads and I mean loads of pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants (student deals) and it just feels like home! Not much I can really say, erm...if you drive traffic can be a little hectic and parking is ridiculous.
Social scene/nightlife in your
university city?:
Popular activities at your university/ in your university city?:
I would say it is one of the best nights out in the north west especially because of the amount of laid back easy going people at this university. Loads of clubs to suit everyones type of music, cheap drinks on student nights, fancy dress nights every week and 53 Degrees, the university club, has ace djs and bands on (westwood)
There are 100s of clubs and societies, sport is very popular here anything from football to taekwando, and if u have more than 10 people you can start your own club or society.
How much on average per week do a) Halls of Residence, b) Renting a house,
cost in your university town/city?
I'm about to move into a brand new built house 5 minutes away from the campus and i will be paying £27 a week because im sharing with the girlfirend so on your own for a double room about £55 and that includes digital tv, sky sports, jacuzzi bath, lol!
How much on average do you spend on food shopping per week?
Not too sure...prefer take-aways, lol (there's plenty of them about!).
What is the course you are studying? - Was it your original choice when applying for university?
I am studying Sports Therapy... much better than physiotherapy... and yes it was my one and only choice!
How many years does your course last?
4 years.
What you enjoy most about your course/ what impresses you about it?:
I get to first aid for university teams every week or every other week if you play for a team. I have learnt massage, injury management and treatment and my friends and lecturers are all ace. Oh, and online open book exams in one module is great!
What you enjoy least about your course, and what could be improved :
I enjoy everything!
How do you rate the teaching standards on your course, and do
your tutors/lecturers/the university give you the right support for your studies?:
Teaching standards are great our course is only 3 years old and things are still being tried and tested, but it is a great environment to learn in.
What A Level Grades/UCAS points did you have to achieve to be accepted onto your course?
300 Ucas points I think -3 A Levels must include Biology or P.E.
Why did you choose the particular course you are studying?
Suited me down to a T. - Love sport and been injured more than most so I might as well find out how to treat it or prevent it.
Best thing about being at university: Worst thing about being at university:
INDEPENDENCE! Washing your clothes... unless you take them home!
What do you plan to do after you graduate? If you were to recommend going to university, what would you say?
Hopefully start my own clinic, or move to U.S and work for a football team out there.
Come to Preston, it's a new city, up and coming, you make friends real easy, social life is outrageous, and you get a massive student loan!
Do you get homesick? If so, how do you deal with it?
I don't get homesick as the university is only 40 minutes from my hometown so I go home regularly.
Do you think you made the right choice? Or looking back, would you have gone to a different university/started a different course?
I definitely made the right choice and I would urge many people to come to this uni if you want to stay close to home but far enough away for your independence.
What have you achieved whilst being at university?
Friends, communication skills, increased confidence, much much more.
