Why did you take a gap year? - was it planned?

I needed some money before I started uni, and also as my birthday is in August I didn’t want to start aged 18.

What did you do on your gap year, and why?
I worked at Sutton’s and Limelight Signs for 10 months then went to Spain for 6 weeks.
What were the advantages of taking a gap year? What did you achieve?
I earned money to go to uni with! Always an advantage as budgets are never easy to stick to. It also makes me work as I remember how bored I was sometimes and it reminds me that that is NOT how I want to live!
Were there any disadvantages to taking a gap year?
Not really, although my friends from school all left and are graduating this year and going of into the real world.
Was the university which offered you a place, happy for you to defer entry and take a gap year?
Very happy. I think they prefer it!

How did you raise money to fund yourself through your gap year?

I worked…
Would you recommend what you did on your gap year to others?
It depends what you want. If you want some travel experience then no, but if you just want to earn some money then definitely.
