Applied ICT

The study of Applied ICT gives students the opportunity to gain a broad yet thorough understanding of how problems could be solved using a range of ICT software packages. This is a practical course where students interview real clients and produce tailor made solutions to meet the client’s business needs.

Students develop a high level of skill at using a range of software packages: - multimedia, spreadsheets, databases, desktop publishers and web-authoring software.


Assessment

Throughout this course a portfolio of work is produced, covering each of the different disciplines. There are no examinations, as such, but in both the AS and the A2 years one project is produced under supervised controlled conditions. To be successful on this course you need to enjoy investigation problems, communicate effectively, be determined to produce working solution and be self-critical of your own achievements. .
