Music

Music is a well established and increasingly popular subject offered at both A' and AS' levels. The large number of musicians of a high standard in school give students interesting possibilities in the ensemble and composing options of the course.

In this course you will:

» Develop your skills in performing, composing
and listening.

» Encounter a great variety of music, particularly from the Western Classical Traditions and from
Jazz.

» Have considerable freedom in performing and composing to explore and choose your own repertoire and styles to work in.

» Have lots of opportunities to use technology.

» Sarah: Law & Criminology, University of Keele

The OCR specification provides flexibility in meeting the needs of individual students in the areas of performing, composing and analytical listening, as related to historical studies.

It would be helpful if you studied GCSE Music, however it is not essential. If you are serious about studying music and have achieved a good standard of performance singing or on an instrument you will certainly be a good candidate for the course.
