Music: How we support your studies

Tuition:
» A team of highly qualified and experienced instrumental teachers and music professionals visit the school each week.
» An instrumental lesson, free of charge is provided to students as part of the course.
» Students who already have private arrangements with teachers are encouraged to remain with them.

Ensemble Opportunities:
These are numerous and are flexible to meet the demands of students
» Current Groups: Senior Choir (staff and students), Senior Concert Band, Brass Quintet, Jazz Band, String Ensemble, Recorder Consort, Beginners/Intermediate/Advanced level guitar groups, Rock Bands etc.


Resources and Facilities:

» Students are able to use the music study room with listening facilities during their free time.
» Practice rooms are also available, as are computers/pianos etc, when not being used by other classes.
» Technology facilities include:
- 16 PCs with Cubase SX3 and Sibelius 4
- Full PA equipment
- Korg and Roland Synthesisers
- Hard disk recording-hardware and software
- Amplifiers, bass guitar, electro/acoustic guitar, drum machine, etc.


Performing Opportunities:

» An annual programme of concerts include:
Major concerts are arranged each term.
There are also various other performances, both in school and further afield.
These will include opportunities for AS and A2 level performances of recital repertoire.
» Composing Awards Concert:
The best of the year's compositions are performed and judged by an independent panel of experts with an opinion vote from the audience.
