Applied Science

The primary aim of this course is to encourage students to develop a broad understanding of science. The emphasis is on a vocational content and for students to use their knowledge of science to apply to real life situations.

BRGS has developed strong links with industry, so students can gain an understanding of science in a working context.



The course is assessed through one examination module and two portfolio modules per year.


There are 3 AS Modules:
» Investigating Science at Work
» Energy Transfer Systems
» Finding Out About Substances

There are 3 A2 Modules:
» Planning and carrying out a Scientific Investigation
» Physics of Performance Effects
» Controlling Chemical Processes
