Technology Product Design- Graphics with Materials

This course allows candidates to build on skills which have been developed in GCSE Technology and will lead them into design-oriented courses in higher education.

Candidates will develop a variety of skills from project management, research and communication, design and making. ICT work will be generated throughout and candidates will develop CAD and CAM expertise using industrial recognised computer software and computer controlled equipment.

AS Course (Year 12)

At AS candidates are assessed through examination and Product Development (coursework). Product Development 1 will comprise a design portfolio and fully prototyped product. The portfolio will contain research, designs, development work, and evaluation work.

The coursework is 60% of the AS and the remaining 40% is achieved through two examinations:
» Industrial Commerical Products and practices
» Material Components and Systems.

A2 Course (Year 13)

Candidates are assessed through examination and Product Development. Although, following the same framework, it is expected that work for Product Development 2 is at a higher standard than that of Product Development 1. The coursework is 60% of the A2, the remaining 40% is achieved through two examinations
